What causes this kind of muscle pain?

It’s not a pulled muscle or circulation kind of pain. I’ve had those, I know what they feel like. I can’t explain it, it’s just different, but it does feel like muscle. On a bad day it starts at my hip and runs down the back and side of my thigh. On a good day it’s just the back of my thigh. Just on one side.

Sounds like Sciatica to me Mozzie. I got it with each pregnancy and it sucked major balls. If you go to a chiropractor it will help.

Should I be alarmed due to sever muscle pain in thighs & upper arms?

I have pain in both thighs on top and sides (7 on scale of 1-10) and in upper arms (less than thighs). It has been roughly 48 hours and it has improved slightly. The pain does not seem to be affected by pressing on muscles (as in massaging) so it almost seems like it’s deeper than the muscle but maybe it’s just deeper in the muscle.

I went to urgent care yesterday and of course HMO only runs CBC and chem panel. Came back with only one number out of whack: 11.1 serum calcium. I feel weak and occasionally nauseous.

Any ideas? What could this be?

Please include sources unless you are a medical professional.

Thank you all.

Chosen Answer:

This may sound real basic but drink lots of water it could be as simple as lack of fluids in the muscles, especially if you are in a hotter climate

Is carisoprodol addictive?

to my understanding its a non-narcotic muscle relaxer. am i wrong?
the main brand name its marketed under is soma

Chosen Answer:

You’re right, it is a non-narcotic muscle relaxant. Cases of dependence, withdrawal, and abuse have been reported with prolonged use of Carisoprodol. Most cases of dependence, withdrawal, and abuse occurred in patients who have had a history of addiction or who used SOMA in combination with other drugs with abuse potential.

Right Bicep Muscle Pain Could I have a torn muscle?

I have severe pain in my bicep muscle on my right side. It looks a little larger than the left but there is no bruising. It hurts to move my arm up or down. I did take a hit to the bicep which seemed to have pulled my arm back. I thought I may have bruised the muscle but there is no bruising around the arm a day after. The muscle hurts to touch on or around the muscle. Could I have torn the muscle?

Chosen Answer:

Did you hear or feel a “pop?

I’m a licensed P.T. …. From what you have described, it _sounds_ like you may have ruptured your biceps tendon. This is something that might likely require surgery to reattach (depending on age and if it is fully ruptured vs a bad strain). Either way, I agree the others, you need to consult your family physician, and then, if necessary, will get a referral to an orthopedic specialist.

whats stronger percocet or carisoprodol?

whats stronger

Chosen Answer:

Percocet is stronger for just about anyone. It has oxycodone, a strong narcotic together with acetaminophen. Carisoprodol is a type of muscle relaxer that is more like a mild tranquilizer.

waht is carisoprodol for ?

is this a muscle relaxer or is flexeril ?

Chosen Answer:

I believe that it is the generic for Soma. It is a good muscle relaxer and better and safer than Flexeril. Both are muscles relaxers.

However, start with small dosages like half the presribed dosage and only take it when you have to have it for pain. And, only when it helps.

It’s apparently a highly addictive product and has become a street drug. I would call it more a pain killer though it’s called a muscle relaxer and have used it after surgery for pain.

Do not take any of this with alcohol or you could die, literally.

No one really knows exactly how these things work and they are depressants, as is alcohol.

I used to find that Soma was the only thing that helped really bad pain. Now I do better with stretches and staying off computer. Soma had quit helping, anyway.

You might want to try aspirin first as long as you aren’t allergic. It’s an effective old product which comes from oak trees. Also avoid alcohol with aspirin (as it can cause bleeding in your stomach) and take it with food.

I have a question for people that have taken a drug test while on Soma?

I know Carisoprodol is metabolized as Methacarbamol (barbiturate). I have a prescription, but am applying for a job working with dangerous machinery, and would prefer to not have it show up as a barbiturate. I really need a job, so does it show up in a standard five panel test?

Chosen Answer:

It shouldn’t show. Standard 5 panels test for THC, opiates, cocaine, PCP and amphetamines. Barbiturates are not included. Of course, you may be hosed if the company’s 5 panel differs from the standard.

Is it normal for muscle pain to appear in waves?

I think I pulled a ab muscle. I would think the pain would be constant, but not in my case. The pain appears every 15 minutes, and it’s a sharp pain, but in between I feel fine….kinda tight, but for the most part, I”m okay. Is this typical?

Chosen Answer:

Sounds like a muscle spasm. You should be fine in a few days.

I have extreme and almost constant muscle pain and spasms all over my body why?

I am 23, I work out couple days a week try and eat healthy. I am the mother of three and a full time student. I was not in any accident or did i receive any injury. Yet at least 15 times a day I have completely debilitating muscle spasms and pain. About 100 times a day I get spasms with no pain. Why could this be happening??
