carisoprodol for pain?

i was in a motorcycle crash not a bad one but im super sore and awhile back my doctor gave me carisoprodol 350mg for some back pain. i was wondering if it be good to take it just stick with excedrin.

Chosen Answer:

Probably. Carisoprodol is a muscle relaxant. If you are not having problems with muscle spasms, etc., you could probably do without it.
Soma, the brand name of your medicine is good for certain muscle pain related issues, but I have a feeling it won’t do much for you in your case, hence bruising, and muscle soreness (not spasms).

Doctors are afraid to offer narcotic pain medicines, because of the very high risk of addiction. I suggest you work with Ibuprofen (Naproxin etc.) or other OTC pain medicine, and as long as you can tolerate the pain, and you are getting good rest, you will be fine..

When traveling to europe, are their any special procedures I need to go through to bring my medication?

I am touring the european union this summer from the USA. I plan on bringing some doctor prescribed medication and was wondering if their was any special procedure for being able to legally carry it while abroad? As of now I plan on bring lorazepam (ativan), zolpidem (ambien), and carisoprodol (soma). Are all of these legal to possess in Europe?

Chosen Answer:

Yes, all of them are legal in Europe. Just declare them when going through customs, to be on the safe side, but other than that, you should be fine.

Excesisive long ter effects of soma (carisoprodol)?

I am slightly educated in the pharmacutical field and was wondering the, if any, long term effects of carisoprodol. Psychelogical or physical.

Chosen Answer:

Soma can harm the kidneys through time. The drug is metabolized in the liver,so the liver can also become diseased.Another s/e is drug dependence.Doctors tend to label those needing the drug as drug seekers.I have been on Soma for 2 years now at a dose of 350 mg 4 times a day.I can really tell if I forget to take a dose.I go to a pain management clinic. My prescription is only to be refilled every 14 days. They do this so you will take the med and not sell it or take too much at a time. They also do blood test to make sure you are taking the med.

Does it burn snorting Carisoprodol?

Got 8 of them and would like to experiment…anyone have any experience with this?

Chosen Answer:

carisoprodol also known as soma isfor muskuloskeletal mild pain… not for fun…
unless your an old person with arthrities you dont need it…

USES:
This medication is used to treat pain and discomfort from muscle injuries such as strains, sprains, and spasms. It is usually used along with rest, physical therapy, and other treatments (e.g., anti-inflammatory medication).

Carisoprodol is called a centrally acting muscle relaxant. It works on the nerves to relieve muscle pain. It may also relieve pain by calming your nervous system.

HOW TO USE:
Take this medication by mouth with or without food, usually 4 times a day or as directed by your doctor.

Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Your doctor will usually direct you to take this medication for your current injury only. Do not save this drug for future use. Follow your doctor's directions on when to reduce your dose, take it less often, or stop taking it.

This medication may cause dependence, especially if it has been used regularly for an extended time or if it has been used in high doses. In such cases, withdrawal reactions (e.g., stomach cramps, trouble sleeping, headache, nausea) may occur if you suddenly stop this drug. To prevent withdrawal when stopping extended/regular treatment with this drug, gradually reduce the dosage as directed. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details, and report any withdrawal reactions immediately.

Though it is very unlikely to occur, this medication can also result in abnormal drug-seeking behavior (addiction/habit-forming). Do not increase your dose, take it more frequently or use it for a longer time than prescribed. Properly stop the medication when so directed. This will lessen the chances of becoming addicted.

Can one insulfate (snort) Soma (Carisoprodol)?

Hi I’ve had a Soma (Carisoprodol) prescription for a while. I’m wondering if anyone has had any experience with insulfating them, does it work good? Does it burn too much? I know the tablets are usually large. Is it worth it versus taking it orally, as far as strength? Critics not needed, thanks

Chosen Answer:

Phill must have no idea that total bioavailibility and peak blood levels are typically drastically increased with this method of absorbtion.

i’ve never tried this one. they are big tho… lil too big.

wondering if anyone knows what type of urine screen social services or ocs uses? does carisoprodol show up?

Chosen Answer:

I’m not sure what social services screens for, but they most probably are unable to detect carisoprodol. In the body, the muscle relaxant carisoprodol breaks down to form a metabolite called meprobamate which is a tranquilizer. If they screen for anything, it will be for meprobamate. So it’s best to get and fill a script for Soma (carisoprodol) beforehand to be on the safe side, and let them know before the screen that you take Soma.
