and long term? He is currently taking Carisoprodol 350mg, Hydrocodone 10mg/500mg, Lyrica 75mg, Trazodone 100mg, Ambien CR 12.5mg, Oxycodon, and Ropinirole 1mg. He takes these every day and has takes some of them multiple times a day. He has back issues and gets shots in his back every 6 months for it but, I am just wondering if there are side effects of taking all of these at once and if you are supposed to take these medicines for long periods of time because my father has been taking these for over a year now. Thank you.

It is the same doctor that has prescribed him all of these medications at once.

Take this list and ask your local phamacist. They are the experts on drug interactions and should be aware of all the drugs someone is on when filling perscriptions.

Were all these medicines prescribed by one doctor? If not, does each doctor know about the other medications?
Well first of all your dad is the grownup here and knows best when it comes to visiting his doctor and taking his prescription medications. Unless his dr is a complete quack I’m sure he knows quite well what he’s doing/prescribing. Keep in mind that the dr has spent many years in medical school and got a degree. Now, leave your dad alone and let him try and get some relief from his obvious back pain.
With the exception of the oxycodone I am prescribed these same meds for over two years now. I have not suffered any ill effects from them, they keep my pain down to a manageable level so I can get out and do things. The ropinerole is for restless legs and the trazodone to help with sleep. It sounds like your dad is on a pain management regimen. As long as he can function, has regular visits to the doctor for check ups, and uses one pharmacy he should be ok.
I hope this helps some
