Are muscle pains at 8 weeks pregnant normal?

I am 8 weeks pregnant and for the last few days have been getting pains that feel like a pulled muscle in my stomach. There is no bleeding and the pains are quite mild. This is my first pregnancy so i’m worrying a little.

Can anyone put my mind at ease?

Chosen Answer:

No need to worry this is called (round ligament pain) and it is exactly what you described it is muscles being pulled/stretched because your abdomen is expanding to make room for baby. This is very normal all pregnant women get it and you will continue to experience this through out your entire pregnancy.I know you said this is your first pregnancy so i can understand your concern and you will have alot more questions as to what is happening to your body as you get further along.Just remember any time something is happening and your not sure what it is you can call your doctor and they will explain it to you and put your mind at ease :)

good luck and congrats :)

What muscle lies under the tricep and runs outboard inboard from shoulder to elbow?

I have been lifting heavy for the past few years and this is the first time I have had any kind of pain in a muscle or under it that prevents me from working that group out. I’m trying to figure out what its called and If I can self medicate it… I know the best thing is to go to a doctor but even though I have free medical our doctors are akin to a monkey banging 2 cymbals together.

Chosen Answer:

I think you’re mistaking the 3 sections at the top of the Triceps for separate muscles.

Each of these sections has “heads”.

The longest head is connected to the Scapula (collar bone).

The Lateral Head is connected to the upper half of the rear of the Humerus.

The Medial (middle) head is connected to the 2 thirds of the rear of the Humerus furthest from the body.

The other end of the muscle joins to the Ulna of the forearm.

On the information you have provided it sounds as if you have a muscle strain which can be relieved by massage.

The sports establishment that you attend may have an on site massage therapist or details of a reputable practitioner, including prices.

Is it a good idea to workout while your muscles ache ?

I usually workout about 4 times a week, but yesterday it was my first workout in about 8 days or so, i did alot of abs, shoulders and biceps and legs too. But my muscles are hurting like hell. Is it bad to workout while this ache is goin on ? if not should i just have some muscle milk during the pain?

Chosen Answer:

Yes, it is a bad idea to work out the part of the body that is aching from a day after workout. The reason why your body aches in the first place is because you worked those muscles well and now they need some down time to heal up. Wait until the pain is almost gone or completely gone to workout those muscles again.

How can you cure a pulled quad muscle?

I pulled my quad muscle while doing track and it hurts whenever I run. The first meet is next Saturday so it needs to be better by then. I’ve been icing it for 20 minutes then putting a heating pad on it for 20 minutes, and so on. I’ve been elevating it on a pillow and everything. If I keep doing this do you think it would get better by the end of the weekend? Also, should I put IcyHot on it?

Chosen Answer:

The icy hot would only help with symptomatic pain. The muscle will heal on it’s own. Soft tissue takes time, but heal relatively quick.

You can’t *cure* a pulled muscle,.. you just have to give it time without over-use of it. So the best thing you can do is to not exercise or use it other than for what you have to do (ie: daily movement, walking etc..) This gives it a proper environment to heal. If you run on a pulled muscle it will take much longer to heal.

So in essence time and rest.

Take care,

Pain that starts in the lower left abdomen and radiates all the way up through the neck?

The pain is sharp, it starts somewhere around the beltline, then radiates upward through the ribcage along the left side of the body and into the neck. The pain comes with deep breaths or quick movements, and is getting worse. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Our first though was just a pulled muscle, but as the pain gets worse we are wondering. The symptoms are happening to a 34 yr old male, no previous conditions to speak of, and no recent activity that he can remember that would have caused this pain. Help please!

Chosen Answer:

ER NOW Chew 2 asprin on the way this can be symptoms of a heart problem. People think all heart pain is exactly in the left side of the chest. It isn’t. It can manifest in abdomen, neck, arm. The quicker this is checked out the better. If it is heart related it could be a blockage or a warning that a heart attack is trying to happen or likely to happen. If it is heart related fast diagnosis and treatment could save his life and keep an actual heart attack from happening.

It could be a lot of other things but good sense and sound medical practice says check out the most serious and urgent possibility first and work from there.

I stained a muscle a couple weeks ago and it still hurts?

On December 11th, I was stretching at dance practice. Usually I’m careful about stretching, but I was extremely close to finally getting my left splits so I couldn’t help but push myself to get all the way down. In the middle of the stretch, I stained a muscle on the back of my left thigh. At first I thought it was just a minor pulled muscle, but the pain still hasn’t gone away. It doesn’t hurt during every day activities, only when I’m stretching. I tried icing it, I tried the heating pad, I tried icyhot gel. Nothing is working. I dance around 15 hours a week and flexibility is a must. I’m rapidly losing flexibility, since the pain is a huge set-back while stretching. What should I do?

Chosen Answer:

Stained muscles are not a serious problem. Liquid soap or bleach should clean it off.

Is it okay to weight lift on the same muscle everyday?

I restarted weigths yesterday and my muscles are in slight pain and stiff now, would it be okay to train on them today or are you suppose to rest a day and let them recover first?

Chosen Answer:

I wouldn’t suggest it. If your muscles do not feel 100% recovered from your previous workout do not train them. It will be your instinct to just tough it out and train anyway but you shouldn’t do this.

Working out does not build muscle, working out destroys muscle. It is recovering from working out that makes your muscles bigger and stronger. If you aren’t pushing your muscles past their current limit they wont grow and if they aren’t 100% you wont be able to push that limit.

How do I relieve my muscle pains from stretching?

I’ve been stretching for my splits the first day was okay but then the second I had pains in my leg muscle the part under my leg and a little bit in my thigh and I need help to relieve this pain so I can reach my goal of splits anyone have any suggestions. I might be taking ballet classes and I want to be prepared.

Chosen Answer:

Happens all the time if your muscles aren’t used to it. Try and do some light stretches to warm and loosen the muscles up. Tomorrow will be worse on your legs if you don’t.

What can I do to get rid of muscle pain?

It was my first time at Bally’s and there was this machine to work your inner thighs. I guess I overworked it because whenever I sit/sleep with my legs not together then my muscles hurt. Even just walking hurts. It’s been four days… what can I do?

Chosen Answer:

You did simply over do it. Drink lots of water and try to stretch a few times a day. If you feel the pain in in your joints or deeper (i.e. not in the muscle) you probably wouldn’t be wrong in seeing a doctor.

My guess however, is that you overworked your muscles and they need time to recover.

what Doctor do i go to for undiagnosed pain all over my body?

Pain in joints as well as muscles sometimes. Pain comes and goes and is stiff in the mornings. Am very fatigued ect.. What DR do i go to to try and get a diagnosis? I do not have a regular physician.

Chosen Answer:

I would first go to a regular, or family doctor. You can just go to a walk-in clinic. They would then diagnose you and help, or recomend a specialist.
