I am having shoulder pain after getting hit during a soccer match?

We were going for the ball when we had a shoulder to shoulder challenge and a few places on my arm went numb for a couple of seconds. Now I am having pain when I lift my arm over my head. The pain is towards the top of the deltoid. I am worried because over the summer I dislocated my shoulder playing baseball and had to go to physical therapy and some visits to acupuncture to fix. The pain resembles the pain I had when I dislocated my shoulder but the bone isnt out of place this time. Any ideas on what I could have done to it?

Chosen Answer:

you should try acupuncture! it does wonders! i’ll try to explain what oriental medicine thinks of dislocated shoulders and every symptom that comes afterward: you dislocated your shoulder because your hamstring and muscles energy (chi energy) around that area is deficient (=low) so it couldn’t withstand the pressure it was put under when you dislocated your shoulder. the it poped back into place but the energy didn’t recover. your body’s defensive energy (wei energy) tried to help and it got stuck around the area because it cant do much when your hamstring and muscle energy is deficient. so the pain that comes afterwards is basicly from the constant accumulation of wei energy around the points where it first got hit when you dislocated. i can almost bet that the pain that you feel its not easy to locate but its more of a cold current arround the area going down along the arm and up to the spine and neck. so, in accupunctre, what they’re going to do is rearange your chi energy that is afecting the hamstring and muscles of that area. right in the first consult you’ll feel positive effects such as more mobility without almost any pain. it’s a fairly easy treatment and it has a great rate of success. the needles dont hurt at all!!! hope it helps!!

What is a good solution to my neck pain?

I got whiplash from a fall 2 years ago. Ever since, I have had chronic neck pain. I get tons of knots in my neck and my C1-C4 vertebraes rotate out of place. This gives me a limited range of motion and constant pain. My mom massages my neck and I apply heat daily. I have tried acupuncture, massage, occupational therapy, physical therapy, chiropractor, biofeedback, traction, neck pillows, and different pain meds and muscle relaxers. What other suggestions do you have to help?

Chosen Answer:

I did sort out my chronic neck pain by using a simple exercise at home every few hours. I found it in this ebook on

I also bought this device and it changed my life

Good luck!

How do you deal with neck pain? I have a pain in the neck ,literally. Does anything help?

I have tried Physio and heat, pain killers, muscle relaxants. I do have a habit of sleeping on my stomach that doesn’t help and my work is very physical. What works for you?
I would stop sleeping on my stomach btw but I get into that position when I am asleep.

Chosen Answer:

A massage. I too sleep on my stomach and carry a lot of tension in my shoulders. It is why I am up late tonight, woke up with a neck ache. What I do if a good massage is not available is head down to the mall and sit in one of the chairs that give you a massage. They are to die for girl. :)

How strong should quad muscles be to avoid knee pain?

Everyone says to build up quad muscles in order to avoid knee pain, but how strong is strong? Is there a guide of, say, body weight vs how much you can left during a quad extension?

Chosen Answer:

How strong, you say? As strong as it takes to not have pain. I would stay away from the quad extensions and go with the leg press machine. But what do I know, I’ve only had three knee surgeries and hundreds of hours of physical therapy. BTW, my knees don’t hurt ever!

Can physical pain get this bad from anxiety?

I have been living with anxiety my whole life it seems. Over the last couple years it has caused me to have muscle tension/pain in my shoulders and now my neck as well. Since April I have headaches/migraines. I stopped working and some days I have to stay on my couch the whole day because of how the pain has gotten. I am getting health insurance next month but I just wanted to know if anyone has had this extreme physical pain from anxiety or is it possibly something else?

Chosen Answer:

i’m no doctor but sounds logical, as when you are anxious you tense up your shoulders, and i have often had tension headaches. I think you need to get back to work as if you lie around all day worrying about it you will make it worse. i was off work for 3 months once with anxiety and you have to get up and get on with it. look at things to make yourself feel better – exercise being the main thing, counselling, good diet. look at the causes of the anxiety and tackle them. i couldn’t leave the house for a while, but you can get better but you have to make the effort. i knew i was better when i took an 11 hour long haul flight, alone ! prior to that a bus or train journey would cause me the most dreadful fear. good luck !

what is the best natural way to ease bone and muscle pain besides for heat and ice?

i had a radial head prosthesis put in my right elbow march 10th and am dealing with a lot of pain. it almost consumes my days. i have two toddlers to run after so i don’t like taking pills? any suggestions?
I have physical therapy every other day, and they use the electrical thing, and then they stretch the arm like crazy. i hurt all the time. There has got to be something i can do.

Chosen Answer:

Use a mixture of essential oils of peppermint, helichrysum, clove, wintergreen, lavader, and euclyptus. These all have pain numbing effects that can be used in long timeframes without any negative side effects. Additionally if you have bad muscle tension this will helpwith that too, this mixture doesn’t only numb pain but it helps achieve a balnce in your muscular system so you heal up whats causeing the pain. Also if youend up being sensitive to the oil mixture wash it off with olive or almond oil, DO NOT USE WATER!!! Water pushes the oil further into the skin where as the vegetable oils will dilute them. Its rare to have reactions, but if you do use less of the oil or dilute it before application with either of the before mentioned vegetable oils. Hope this works for oyu.

Would chiropractic manipulation help chronic neck muscle pain?

I have had severe neck and shoulder muscle stiffness flare ups for 30 years. Most of the incidents are caused by stress. I’m finally getting to the point where I know I have to get some relief. Physical therapy or chiropractic?

Chosen Answer:

If stress is really the issue, either one will only offer temporary relief. Stress management is the real issue.

However, many people feel that their pain and stiffness is “stress” related, when in actuality, it is movement and position related. We tend to associate it with stress because when we are stressed, we are usually working more prolonged periods in one position (such as writing or sitting at the computer). If this is really the issue, then I would recommend physical therapy. Manipulation might help, but might not even be necessary and will only be a temporary relief unless you learn how to counteract the movements and positions that are causing you pain. This is where physical therapy is of benefit. We focus on education about cause/effect relationship and what you can do to correct the problem and manage it yourself in the long run. If you are looking for a good physical therapist, I would recommend someone who is certified or diplomaed in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy. Go to www.mckenziemdt.org

It’s 12 noon, and I am such a nervous wreck that all I can think to do is take: 200mg diphenhydramine, 20 mg ?

zolpidem, 600 mg carisoprodol, 1 mg of clonazopam, all washed down with two shots of whiskey mixed with some frosty Squirt. Besides the painfully obvious, what is wrong with me? The only time I don’t feel mental and physical pain in when I am asleep, and even then it usually comes to me in my dreams.
Keep those answer flowing…I’ll take all the help I can get!

Chosen Answer:

Thats just way too many drugs. Go see a doctor. If the Klonopin and a shot of whisky alone don’t calm you down – you have issues… The rest of the crap is probably making you feel worse, not better.
