I am doing Track at my high school and the workouts are intense and lead to intense muscle pain. The pain is especially in my back and thighs. I don’t have the option to rest a day because i have practice 6 days a week. What can i do to ease these aches and pains?

What helps muscle pain after working out?

I pretty much never did sport or excercise, didn’t join in at school and never took care of my body before, decided I need to tone up, using a DVD that pushes you A LOT, my legs and shoulders are aching even though I warmed up before and warmed down after, What else can I do to try relieve the pain? Also, are you supposed to take a break from it once a week or something? or is it OK to do it everyday?

You can help lessen muscle pain and quicken muscle recovery by:
Stretching your muscles before and after you work out. Full body stretches are best.

Taking adequate rest times between sets. I usually rest for about a minute and for about 2 minutes between each exercise.

Drinking plenty of water and eating healthy meals.

Having at least one rest day per week where you do no vigorous exercise.

Eating foods that are rich in omega-3 fats, as these help your muscles to recover.

If you have sharp pain, as from a torn muscle, then the best way to recover is again by stretching it, by working it with light exercise to help strengthen it, and to use alternating cold, hot, and cold to control swelling.

How can I ease muscle pain in one night?

I’m running sprints for my school track team and over the last few days, my calves and thighs have been VERY sore. My calves even look a little bit swollen. I know alot of people are going to say rest, but that’s not an option because I have to go to practice everyday. I don’t want to slack in my workouts because of soreness. How can I ease muscle soreness in one night?

Muscle Pain?

I am 15 yrs old I run track in high school and I just finished crosscountry training and we are about to start training for track. Since I started running my muscles start hurting really bad when I stop but I dont feel it while im running. Its not just when I run its whenever I use my legs for any activity other than walking. I am really fast and one of the best runners on my team but I feel like this pain is holding me back from being a real athlete. Ive been running for about 4 weeks now and I still cant move around freely without pain. The other kids on my team get sore when the run to but when they aren’t they are able to move around and play other sports freely. Is this normal or is something wrong?

Chosen Answer:

15 years of age another 20 years to learn and train your body to reach peak performance. I think you might be running too hard. Therefore stay back a bit and jog, you do not have to win every race and running is all about pacing yourself. Too fast at 15, burnt out at 18!

Muscle pain?

Yesterday I pulled the muscles in my arm. Today I hurt them even more carrying my textbooks around school. I was just wondering does any one have any remedies or ways I could ease the pain? Thanks

Chosen Answer:

Same thing happened to me in my shoulder muscle this week. I cant even sleep for more then a few hours because it hurts so bad to put any pressure on it. I got some asprin cream that relieves muscles. If you massage some of that on(but not too much or else it burns) then it works really well. I also take advil and sleep with a heat pack on my arm. It really helps it. I’ve been continuing with this for 4 days and the pain is pretty much gone today. I would make sure that you dont carry text books on that arm and make a bunch of trips to your locker instead. the only way to really help the muscle is just dont make it worse and the muscle tissue will heal itself. Good Luck, I understand your pain

What’s the deal with muscle pain after exercise?

I went paintballing with my friends on Sunday (first time too, ’twas awesome), and I also did some running that would be considered extreme exercise for me, since I never get out of the house except for school. So why do the muscles in my thighs feel like all hell when I bend my legs? Something to do with lactic acid or something…

So what’s the problem and how do I get rid of the pain

Chosen Answer:

Any time you do a lot of physical activity that your body isn’t used to, there will be muscle soreness after. You’re muscles are damaged and your body is repairing them (which is the basic concept of weight lifting; tear muscles and build them back bigger than before). Only time (usually a day or two) will get rid of the soreness.

What can I eat or do to help my thigh muscle pain?

I joined my school’s Cross Country and for the whole summer we’ve gotta run everyday. It’s only been the first week and only 3 days I’ve gone to practice and my back thigh muscles are already soring and in kinda pain. I’m gonna keep on training and running everyday for it, but what can I do or eat to relief some of my sore and pain? My coach said that eating an orange will help the sores, what eles can I eat/do?

Chosen Answer:

You really should rest sore muscles. If you don’t feel like you have the luxury of doing that you need to make sure you drink enough water throughout the day. Muscles are sore from a build up of lactic acid drinking water will help flush that out of your body. You should also massage your thighs before and after you train.

Ways to relieve leg muscle pain?

So, I am in the color guard at my school, and this past week we’ve had band camp, which is just 8 hours of being on my feet and running , etc.
Because of the long days and hard work, my leg muscles have been aching for days. Do you have any remedies for leg muscle pain that would be easy and simple?

Chosen Answer:

Brittany,

There are several products made for sore muscles and inflammation. Ask at your local drugstore – they’re over-the-counter. Some rub in and disappear, others are based in vaseline, so they leave the greasy stuff on your skin. I like Tiger Balm, but it contains vaseline and smells strongly of camphor and whatever else is in it – but it’s heavenly on sore muscles!

You should also be taking a good multiple vitamin that contains selenium – about 50mg is enough. Lack of selenium can cause leg pains. (A pharmacist shared this little tidbit with me.)

How can I relieve my muscle pain?

I’ve recently started weight lifting at my school and I think I over did it way too much because it’s already been 3 days and my muscle pain is still there, and the weirdest part is that I only worked on my upper body and my leg muscles feel just as sore as my upper body muscles. And I can’t even lift any small object for that long because then I feel a sharp pain in my arm. Any thoughts on how to get rid of my muscle pain?
