In my exercise routine, I do stomach crunches. Now the muscles around my tail bone are tender and pain.?

I need to sit at my desk for long durations. When I get up, the sore muscles give me pain. Otherwise the bone or any exercise is not a problem. What is the remedy ?

Chosen Answer:

Hi Dear

If you do rest of the Body Exercises with Intensity and right breathing you don’t need to do crunches.
Later in life they are a cause for slip disc. Also probably you are not doing the crunches the right way.

Why are my muscles sore all the time after playing sports?

I’ve been playing sports for around 5 days in a row, and everyday is full of pain from muscle soreness, and even when I waited a 2 day period for them to heal. They STILL hurt. Please help me?

Chosen Answer:

you probably don’t stretch enough, even if you do stretch playing a lot of sports will cause muscle soreness because you are overexerting your muscles the small fibers are being damaged by contraction of muscles , and also the build up of lactic acid. stretch/warm-up before u play and stretch/cool down after u play.

What is the difference between a pulled muscle and just being sore?

I play soccer and thankfully have never pulled anything but both of my quad muscles have been in some pain. I cant tell if their just sore or if i might have pulled them. When i run they are both fine but when i go to kick the ball the leg i kick with hurts. My coach thinks im just sore but i dont know because i have never had pain like this when being sore. Can any one tell me the difference between the two (pain wise)

Chosen Answer:

In a pulled muscle there is soreness because usually there is moderate damage to nerve fibers that surround the muscles that is pulled. This requires “downtime” or resting of that muscle to allow it to heal. Which usually takes as little as a few days to a few weeks- depending how bad it is. Muscle soreness results from overall breakdown in the integrity of tissue in a specific group of muscles. This is normal when a muscle is over used. Body builders continue to break down and rebuild their muscles. Each time layers of cell are duplicated adding muscle mass over the course of time.

So there are multiple levels of muscle damage starting with typical soreness by exertion, moderate damage which is referred to as a pull, and the highest level of damage is a tear which is varying degrees of a damage that can require surgery to repair. In this case its usually the connecting cartilage that is damaged that is more fibrous than muscle and does not repair itself as easily as muscle does. Cartilage is also the structure that fastens muscle to bone.

How to get rid of after-exercise muscle pain?

Yesterday, I added a new exercise to my workout plan: planks. Because I had never done these before, I wasn’t sure how physically demanding they were, but I did a couple of sets of them anyways.
This morning, I woke up with my entire core and my thighs all sore. I have an event to attend later tonight and it would be great if I could attend it pain-free.

What can I do to treat this muscle ache?

Chosen Answer:

a couple of ibuprofen and a hot shower just before you go to your event should get you through.
Try to do some gently stretches so you don’t stiffen up too much.

What can I do to make muscle pain go away?

I am a competitive swimmer and I need to be at swim practice everyday. My muscles have been sore for about 2 weeks and I am getting very irritated, It hurts all over. I am talking head toes and everything in between. How can I make the pain go away with out taking a break from swimming?

Chosen Answer:

People who exercise and train a LOT take very good care of their muscles for the critical hour or two right after they stop exercising. They apply cold compresses to the tendon areas they expect to be most painful, and they immediately take an anti-inflamatory such as Advil or even Naproxen (12 hours). Anti-oxidant vitamins are also used such as Vitamin A,C,E, so take a multi-vitamin along, and bring some extra chewable vitamin C tablets along with you.

If you’ve been sore for two weeks, and it’s not going away, talk to your doctor. A short course of a corticosteroid may reduce the inflamation quickly and long enough for your body to heal up. This is not the same as taking “anabolic steroids.”

Finally, even though you’re swimming, you can still tape up the area right below your kneecap, and your ankles, part of your elbow, etc… to help support your muscle movements and protect your tendons from tears. If sports tape doesn’t stick, use duct tape, and overlap it.

Do you ride a bus to the swimming pool? If so, make sure you really stretch out, especially your hips, before you swim. And take another stretch before riding home, and after… Keep limber.

When you get home, three times a week, take an epsom salts bath. It really works.

Good luck!

I have been having that crampy feeling you have as you would if you just started your period and I’m 35 wks pg?

I have been feeling like this for a week and it’s getting more intense. I also have the hip pain, sore butt muscles and pain in my thighs. Do these pains usually begin so early before labor or is it likely that it’ll be sooner than 40 wks? Just curious how your experiences were.

Chosen Answer:

hi im 36 weeks tomorrow and since 35 weeks ive been experiencing these cramps throughout the day and night, they dont really hrt but are just like period pains, i figured as they arent regular or have any pattern they are just braxton hicks, im seeing my midwife wed so i shall ask then. if you are worried i would keep an eye on them and let your midwife know if they become regular, although i think its one of the ‘joys’ of pregnancy. good luck x
