I go to the gym only once per week. My muscles are in pain every time I visit the gym. Based on what I read, when muscles are at pain it means that they are growing. So does it means my muscles grow even I visit the gym only once a week?

Sure, you can definitely see results over time, but if your only going once, I suggest doing a full body workout. The thing about a full body workout is that you need to pay extra care to your nutrition for max recovery with a max workout. Increase your protein and carb amount for that day you exercise, especially directly after. I recommend a protein shake with cereal (a lot of whole grains) within an hour. Creatine can also speed up recovery. By pain, I’m assuming your talking about the soreness which is natural if your doing a workout your not used to.
If your shooting for fast results, your going to spread it over a week and do like 3-5 workouts per week or more. Not that what your doing is no good, it’s just that it is guaranteed to take you much longer to see results. Another thing is change the exercises you do each week to avoid a plateau.
If you don’t like going to the gym, consider P90x which is the best home workout guide on the market. I’m on my second round of it and the results I got the first round were pretty damn good. It’s an hour a day though, which is different from what you do now and it WILL make you sore after most workouts. But like I said, much faster course, only 90 days.
