How can i prevent pain around shoulder blades when driving?

I work for UPS and when driving the truck long distances i get a pain on my right and left shoulder blades (or the muscles in that area rather). I try to change my posture or seat position and just can’t get rid of it. It doesn’t ever happen in personal vehicles though. Any idea of what I can do to prevent this? It’s getting to the point that I’m not enjoying the job like I use to because of this pain.

Chosen Answer:

Review your sitting posture; something’s not correct. Move seat forward so you are not ‘reaching’ for the wheel, grip hands at 10 and 2 o’clock on the wheel (safer). Have your eyes checked (do you lean head forward of your shoulders?

Your head weighs approx. 9 pounds and every inch your ears are ahead of your shoulders multiplies that weight upon your neck (telescoping pain to shoulder blades).

I feel Pain in Muscles of Left Leg usually all the times and sometimes in left Arm too. What i Do ?

I feel pain in my left leg muscles,This pain in not unbearable but i fell uncomfortable. I feel this pain almost every time, I also fell such pain in my left arm sometimes. Please help me to remove this uncofortness ….

Keep an eye on this and if the pain, weakness or tingling continues it may be the beginning of DVT. A vascular surgeon can perform a Doppler ultra scan test and identify the problem.

This is very painful and pain pills do not help. I have had it for over 2 years and the doctor was slow to diagnose it until I was in critical shape.

Mine started with a sudden onset of calf pain and leg swelling. The pain was worse when the leg was hanging down. There was warmth to the area because the veins were inflamed.

I am on coumidin (warfarin) as a blood thinner. Usually when they say 6 months, they mean for the rest of your life. The blood thinner does not resolve the current clot problem, but supposedly keeps new clots from forming.

Deep vein thrombosis, or DVT, is caused by a blood clot in a muscle and can be life-threatening. Symptoms include swelling, pain, and tenderness in the legs. Risk factors include immobility, hormone therapy, and pregnancy.

DVTs can occur anywhere in the body but are most frequently found in the deep veins of the legs, thighs, and pelvis. They may infrequently arise from the upper extremities usually because of trauma, or from an indwelling catheter (tubing) or device.

A deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a condition wherein a blood clot (thrombus) forms in a vein of the deep system.

Thrombophlebitis is a condition in which there is both inflammation and a blood clot in a vein. Thrombophlebitis can occur in either superficial or deep veins. Superficial thrombophlebitis occurs in veins close to the skin surface, and usually causes pain, swelling, and redness in the area of the vein. Superficial thrombophlebitis usually is treated with heat, elevation of the affected leg or arm, and anti–inflammatory medications. A thrombosis in a deep vein is a much more serious problem than one in a superficial vein. The reason for this is that a piece of the clot in deep vein from a DVT can break off and travel through the deep veins back to the heart, and eventually be pumped by the heart into the arteries of the lung. When this happens, the condition is called pulmonary embolism (PE). The blood clot is called an embolus (plural emboli), and the process of breaking off and traveling to the lungs is called embolism.

Narcotics didn’t help my pain. I now take Tizanidine 4mg 5/day and Lyrica Cv 100 mg 3/day. This helps the nerve pain and I can walk some now. I am feeling much better pain wise.

Is it okay to weight lift on the same muscle everyday?

I restarted weigths yesterday and my muscles are in slight pain and stiff now, would it be okay to train on them today or are you suppose to rest a day and let them recover first?

Chosen Answer:

I wouldn’t suggest it. If your muscles do not feel 100% recovered from your previous workout do not train them. It will be your instinct to just tough it out and train anyway but you shouldn’t do this.

Working out does not build muscle, working out destroys muscle. It is recovering from working out that makes your muscles bigger and stronger. If you aren’t pushing your muscles past their current limit they wont grow and if they aren’t 100% you wont be able to push that limit.

Should I worry about these random muscle aches?

Ever since I started to exercise vigorously (haven’t exercised in many months), I’ve been having random body aches at random times. Sometimes my arms ache. The other day my cheeks were hurting and now my leg muscles hurt.

The pain is sudden and it only lasts for a few seconds. Also I can’t touch surfaces that are too cold or I feel pain. Should I tell my doctor about this? It’s been going on for a couple of weeks.

Chosen Answer:

Sorry to here about how you feel, apply ice for the first 24 – 72 hours of an injury to reduce pain and inflammation. After that, heat often feels more soothing.

What is Sciatica? How long will a person suffer pain with this?

The pain started at the back in the lumbar area and the pain radiates to the toe of the left leg. After a course of treatment with pain killers and muscle relaxent the pain persists.I want to know how long will it be there? How can it be get ridden?

Chosen Answer:

Sciatica is pain, tingling, or numbness produced by an irritation of the nerve roots that lead to the sciatic nerve. The most common cause of sciatica is a bulging or ruptured disc (herniated disc) in the spine pressing against the nerve roots that lead to the sciatic nerve. However, sciatica also can be a symptom of other conditions that affect the spine, such as narrowing of the spinal canal (spinal stenosis), bone spurs (small, bony growths that form along joints) caused by arthritis, or nerve root compression (pinched nerve) caused by injury. In rare cases, sciatica can also be caused by conditions that do not involve the spine, such as tumors or pregnancy.

In many cases, sciatica will improve and go away with time. Initial treatment usually focuses on medicines and exercises to relieve pain. You can help relieve pain by:

Putting ice or a cold pack on the middle of the lower back.
Avoiding sitting (unless it is more comfortable than standing).
Alternating lying down with short walks. Increase your walking distance as you are able to without pain.
Taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen (Advil) or naproxen (Aleve).
Additional treatment for sciatica depends on what is causing the nerve irritation. If your symptoms do not improve, your health professional may suggest physical therapy, injections of medicines such as steroids, or even surgery for severe cases

What is causing pain in sternum after dips?

I just started doing dips (i use the assisted machine, only doing 90-100lbs which is fairly easy) yet i continue to get a sharp pain in my sternum during the latter part of my sets and after. Also when i breath in deeply the pain seems to escalate. What is causing this? Should I stop doing dips or continue to build the muscle and the pain will go away?

Chosen Answer:

it is possible that you are straining the pecs as you do the dips. There is tremendous stress put on your pectoral muscles in dips as well as in the back/shoulders. It is possible your pain is actually in the attachments of the pecs on the sternum? Is there any place if you touch it hurts? Does any specific movements hurt if there is not your full body weight on it? It is possible the hanging sensation is unfamiliar to you and that is what is causing the pain, but I would vote for muscle in origin.

Woke up with muscle pains and nausea?

i just woke up from a dead sleep with muscle pains all over and slight nausea. there is a dull pain in myhead and i am extremely uncomfortable, what could be causing this?

Chosen Answer:

It could be a fever, marking the start of a cold or possibly the flu, or you could just have had a lot of dreams and been tensing your muscles a lot in the night. Take some painkillers for the headache and drink some water and see how you feel in a bit. If you feel better after that, it’s probably the latter explanation. If you develop other symptoms like a sore throat or cough then it’s probably a mild fever from a virus. Get some rest and you should be better in no time.

Can Wellbutrin cause severe leg muscle pain, will it go away with time?

I started Wellbutrin @ 150mg 1 week ago, I was to take 300mg for this this week and then increase to 450mg. I took the 300mg last night and my leg pain is worse. I’ve not hurt it in any way that I know of. The calf muscle hurts so much I can’t walk on it this morning. I don’t want to quit the Wellbutrin and if this is the cause, will this side effect eventually go away?

Chosen Answer:

I don’t know about wellbutrin, but i was on prozac, large dose, back when it first came out, and I got such horrific joint and muscle pain, that i ended up in a rhuematology clinic, getting worked up for all sorts of things, like fibromyalgia, arthritis, etc. — but once they researched my meds, they discovered a then, unknown side effect, which was this sort of pain. Once they d/c’d the medicine, it was just a matter of days before those crippling symptoms disappeared. Good luck !
