what can I do with painful strained leg and hip muscles?

4 months ago I strained my leg and hip muscles that happened at work. The pain gone but today I felt the same pain. I have a hard time lifting my leg and if I put pressure into it I’ll suffer hip pain. It’s very painful. It’s not sciatic pains, is this normal?

Chosen Answer:

RICE is the standard treatment protocol for mild to moderate muscle strains.
Rest. Avoid putting weight on the hip. Your doctor may suggest using crutches for the first day or two after the injury.
Ice. Gently massage the area with ice to help decrease swelling.
Compression. Compression shorts or a wrap bandage may be helpful.
Elevation.
If you want to know more about bone health and related injuries, there are articles that I bumped into at http://www.strykerhipreplacementrecall.net/ that may be of great help to you.

How can i prevent pain around shoulder blades when driving?

I work for UPS and when driving the truck long distances i get a pain on my right and left shoulder blades (or the muscles in that area rather). I try to change my posture or seat position and just can’t get rid of it. It doesn’t ever happen in personal vehicles though. Any idea of what I can do to prevent this? It’s getting to the point that I’m not enjoying the job like I use to because of this pain.

Chosen Answer:

Review your sitting posture; something’s not correct. Move seat forward so you are not ‘reaching’ for the wheel, grip hands at 10 and 2 o’clock on the wheel (safer). Have your eyes checked (do you lean head forward of your shoulders?

Your head weighs approx. 9 pounds and every inch your ears are ahead of your shoulders multiplies that weight upon your neck (telescoping pain to shoulder blades).

How do you deal with neck pain? I have a pain in the neck ,literally. Does anything help?

I have tried Physio and heat, pain killers, muscle relaxants. I do have a habit of sleeping on my stomach that doesn’t help and my work is very physical. What works for you?
I would stop sleeping on my stomach btw but I get into that position when I am asleep.

Chosen Answer:

A massage. I too sleep on my stomach and carry a lot of tension in my shoulders. It is why I am up late tonight, woke up with a neck ache. What I do if a good massage is not available is head down to the mall and sit in one of the chairs that give you a massage. They are to die for girl. :)

While on high blood pressure medicine would it hurt to take a muscle relaxer?

My dad is currently on blood pressure medicine and cholesterol medicine. He recently pulled something in his back and can verily walk. Would it affect him if he was to take a muscle relaxer to relieve the pain. He wont go to the doctor for he dont want to miss work. Thanks for any suggestions and comment.

Chosen Answer:

Call your pharmacist and ask them the question, tell them what he is taking for the bp and cholesterol and ask if it would be ok to take the muscle relaxer, give them the name of it and if there would be any interactions.

In the mean time your dad can try either heat from a heating pad and if that doens’t help he could try an ice pack, 10 minutes on 10 minutes off, he should try the ice first to try to alleviate the swelling, heat would be to relax the muscles. But its one or the other, not both ok, depending on which one makes him feel better.

he will have to be rather stationary for awhile to give this time to heal up.

How can I get rid of back pain and headache?

Since last 3 months, I have been teaching regular 5 periods in a college. For this, I have to prepare till late night. I sleep 6 hours in night and one hour in daytime.

I have to work in very much pressure. I am suffering from back pain and headache. Headache is temporary but the back pain is regular. The pain is not so severe but increasing everyday. How can I get rid of it? Please suggest me, I will really appreciate your answer.

Chosen Answer:

Keep yourself well hydrated and eat well balanced meals and health snacks first of all. You then may want to incorporate some Yoga stretching exercises into your daily routine. Yoga helps to relax and provide strength to tired and or weak muscles. I have included a link that provides some good initial exercises that happen to be easy to.

Good Luck!

Is it a good idea to workout while your muscles ache ?

I usually workout about 4 times a week, but yesterday it was my first workout in about 8 days or so, i did alot of abs, shoulders and biceps and legs too. But my muscles are hurting like hell. Is it bad to workout while this ache is goin on ? if not should i just have some muscle milk during the pain?

Chosen Answer:

Yes, it is a bad idea to work out the part of the body that is aching from a day after workout. The reason why your body aches in the first place is because you worked those muscles well and now they need some down time to heal up. Wait until the pain is almost gone or completely gone to workout those muscles again.

What is wrong with someone if they have chest and side pains?

Ive been having chest pains, pains beneath my breasts, and side pains (like rib cage and below). i went to the doctor awhile back but they only said i pulled a muscle. the side pains happen every now and then but the chest pains occur twice a week. Ive been somewhat stressed and i don’t work out if that info matter.

Chosen Answer:

It could be related to stress, but it could also be related to gall bladder problems. Check here.

is muscle pain normal after body building?

its 2 day that i have started bodybuilding and some of my muscles have started to pain
is it normal? whats the cause of it? what is happening and what should i do?

Chosen Answer:

Its perfectly normal after a hard workout.
Its your muscles calming doen after being worked. They’ll grow a bit (unnoticeable in 1 day).
Just take a day off and it’ll fix itself.

Keep in mind that ur not supposed to work out every day or gains will be reduced. Leave a day inbetween to let musle recover even if they dont hurt.
